One of the things people fail to realize with regards to their careers and promotions is this. It seems a common fallacy prevalent among society today is that as you move up in the ranks or promote you delegate most of your work to others. You are somehow elevated above the common worker and are now entitled to do less for more pay. This couldn't be farther from the TRUTH and it fosters dissension and ill will.
People who do eventually move up or promote and have this attitude towards advancement end up being the very supervisors people love to hate. Not only that, the problem compounds and they experience more than the usual amount of stress and frustration. They themselves become unproductive and allot of the times fail to realize it. Supervisors are leaders. The best leaders in life set the example. They are ready and willing to do themselves whatever it is they ask others to do. They don't demand respect they earn it through hard work. Others then come to recognize this and take note of it. Morale throughout is increased and then the group starts to function as a unit or team. The progression of things is that productivity and efficiency are increased. Not only that it ensures everyone that they are needed and vital to the accomplishment of the mission of the company.
Once supervisors and authority figures learn these vital principles. They start to move forward and accomplish much more than they ever thought possible. So you supervisors out there take an honest and humble look at yourselves. See what adjustments you can make to become the leader people willingly follow. You'll not only save yourself frustration, you and your team will accomplish tangible progress.
