McDonalds Fiver Years Over Due for Oil Change or Are They?

Ok first and foremost I absolutely love the fries at McDonalds. That being said I really shouldn't eat as much of them as I find myself consuming. I'm actually not really concerned about them being fried or the type of oil used to fry them. The concern I have is the fact that potatoes are so high on the glycemic index.
In other words they are rapidly turned into glucose by the body and unless you are extremely active glucose gets stored as fat.Recent studies have linked a diet high in foods that are high on the glycemic index with diabetes and coronary heart disease. Not to mention obesity. High glucose levels after a meal containing high glycemic foods may promote the above mentioned diseases by the oxidation of the blood vessels as well direct increases in insulin.
So although I guess its good Mcdonalds is changing to a "healthier" oil for frying. The root of the initial problem remains. I hate trans-fats as much as the next person but the main issue again really isn't the oil its the food itself. I hope all who read will really study the glycemic index findings it can really be an eye opener. Especially when the mainstream media still focuses on fat content and fried foods!
