3rd Alarm Fire Easily Preventable.

Well last night we had one that we sometimes refer to as walking the dog. That's when a fire is just completely out of control and becoming increasingly difficult to manage. The structure that was engulfed was a typical apartment complex. Approximately 20 apartments were completely destroyed. These apartments all shared a common attic space with no fire walls. Our investigators later determined it was a six year old boy who admitted playing with matches on his mothers bed. Twenty four families are now left homeless and estimates of the damage are at least one million dollars.

Just wanted to thank the red cross for providing coffee and snacks to us during this incident. Not to mention them finding adequate shelter for the 24 families left without a place to stay. Its makes a high stress incident just a little more bearable to be able to grab a quick bite and cup of coffee when you are at one of these long term incidents.

Just a reminder talk to your kids about the dangers of playing with matches. Let them know fire is a tool for adults. Instruct them as to just how dangerous it can be. Have a real heart to heart with them and make a connection. Make sure they get the point.
