New Genetic test for Prostate Cancer

Heard on NPR yesterday that a new blood test has been developed for checking if you are genetically predisposed for prostate cancer. Prostate cancer is one of the most deadly forms of cancer for me. The research has been carried out by the Karolinska Institute in Sweden. The researchers were able to identify five gene variants which when found together indicated an elevated risk for prostate cancer. I guess this is a good thing. It could lead to more surgies and more expensive tests run on individuals who may or may not end up with aggressive cancers. On the darker side insurance companies could use this against prospective clients. Only time will tell.
